It would be easy to spend the rest of our time on earth talking about nothing but God, His attributes, and Him as three Persons. The doctrine of the Trinity is one of the most important doctrines in all Scripture. As true Christians, we should seek to learn all we can about each one, because , after all, we are going to spend eternity with them! Let’s consider
- ONE GOD IN THREE PERSONS! Each Person of the Godhead is as individual and distinct as each of us. In John 1:1, 2 we find three undeniable truths that Jesus is God. First, He was in thebeginning and Scripture that “In the beginning, GOD…” The Word was in the beginning with God, and The Word/Jesus was God! Second, The Word became flesh or Man and we saw His glory. The word for “glory” is a form of the same word used for the Shekinah Glory of God as He revealed Himself to Israel in the Old Testament. Third, the Word came from the Father to dwell among us. Note also:
- ALL THREE PERSONS ARE EACH FULLY GOD! In Gen. 1:1; Isa. 64:8; Matt. 6;9 and scores of other verses we are learning about God the Father. He is the One we think of when we read about God, The Almighty and Sovereign. However, The Son is also fully God. One of the most succinct passages is John 1:1-4, but John 20:24-29; Heb. 1:1 also attest to The Son’s deity. Passages like Matt. 28:19; Acts 5:1-4; 1Cor. 3;16, 17, and 6:19, 20 attest to the deity of the Holy Spirit. So what? Let’s consider
- APPLICATIONS TO DAILY LIVING! One must want to put much effort into denying that Scripture teaches with crystal clarity there is only One God Who is Three individual, distinct Persons. They are always in perfect harmony and unity with each other. They are never divided or contradictory with each other on anything! Neither do They act independently of each other. In our daily living if we let God have His perfect way – we will also always be in harmony and unity with Him. We further demonstrate the unity and harmony of our Triune God when we live in harmony and unity with one another. Just as each one of them has His own ministry to be performed in harmony and unity with the others, so does each member of the True Church or Body of Christ. Our humanity interferes with our ministry when our pride and desire for self exaltation or self-satisfaction rears its ugly head wanting to push us to the front—where we can get the recognition and praises of men we think we should have. Such action does NOT represent the Holy Trinity; but it certainly emphasizes how much our Enemy the Devil wants to destroy God’s Holy name. Consider this mighty doctrine a blessing. As big as it seems, it is also demonstrative of how intimate God wants to be with us in the privacy of our hearts. What a Great God we serve!
